Constitution

Article I The name of this organization shall be 'The Herpetology Club of North Carolina State University,' hereafter referred to as 'The Herpetology Club' in the Constitution and By-Laws.
Article II : Purposes
Section 1. The Herpetology Club at North Carolina State University is a group for those who have a common interest in reptiles and amphibians. Pet owners, breeders, conservationists and researchers alike all working together on goals such as education and research.
Article III : Membership
Section 1. Any student affiliated and/or attending with North Carolina State University.
Article IV : Officers
Section 1. Officers of this organization shall be president, vice-president, treasurer, Agri-Life representative, and education and/or trip coordinator. The term of the office shall be one academic year. Officers shall be elected at the end of the academic school year and shall take office at the beginning of the following academic school year.
Section 2. Elected officials must attend all meetings as scheduled. If unable to attend a meeting you must contact the President within 24 hours of the scheduled meeting time. If any elected officer is unable to serve or voted by the Herpetology Club, with a two-thirds vote, to be inadequately fulfilling his/her duties as an officer, the Herpetology Club shall elect a new office to replace him/her, unless the vacated office is that of the president. If the office of the president is vacated, the vice-president shall assume that office and a new vice-president shall be elected.
Section 3. The duties of the officers shall be prescribed in the By-Laws of the Herpetology Club.
Article V : Advisors
Section 1. The faculty advisor shall be a member of the faculty of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
Article VI : Finances
Section 1. Every member shall pay to the college treasurer a fee. The fee shall be handled by the treasurer.
Article VII : Activities
Section 1. The Herpetology Club shall sponsor such social and informative activities as it deems necessary and as provided for in the By-Laws.
Article VIII : Voting Procedures
Section 1. During Officer Election, every attending member must vote, electing an officer by way of majority vote.
Article IX : By-Laws
Section 1. The Herpetology Club shall establish a set of By-Laws to include operational and procedural matters. The By-Laws shall not be in conflict with this Constitution.
Article X : Amendments
Section 1. This constitution may be amended by three-quarters vote of all the Herpetology Club Representatives, the vote coming not less than two weeks after the amendment was proposed, if quorum is present at the meeting.
Article XI : Meetings
Section 1. Regular meetings shall be held on the same day, biweekly of every month (unless otherwise stated by the Herpetology Club President) at such a time designated by the president. The meeting place shall be that designated by the president.
Article XII : Attendance
Section 1. An undergraduate will be considered 'active' if both of the following criteria are met:
1.A member pays their yearly dues and attends the majority of the meetings and/or trips and educational events
2.There is no penalty for not attending meetings and/or educational events.
BY-LAWS
Article I : Duties of the Officers
Section 1. The Herpetology Club President, from hereafter referred to as the president, shall preside at all meetings of the Herpetology Club. He/She shall name all committees for which no provision has otherwise been made. He/She shall perform such other duties as the Constitution and By-Laws prescribe to those imposed on his/her office by parliamentary practice.
Section 2. The Herpetology Club Vice-President, from hereafter referred to as the vice-president, shall perform the president's duties during the president's absence. He/She shall be coordinator of all Herpetology Club activities.
Section 3. The Herpetology Club Treasurer, from hereafter referred to as the treasurer, shall: (1) disburse all funds approved by the Herpetology Club , (2) audit records of all enterprises for which fees are expended.
Section 4. The Agri-Life Representative, from hereafter referred to as the Ag-Life Rep, shall attend all Agri-Life meetings and refer back to the club as to the information from the meetings.
Section 5. The Education and/or Trip Coordinator, from hereafter referred to as the Education and/or Trip Coordinator, shall act as a guide in places when it comes time to plan a Herpetology Club trip and/or event.
